How to use conditional formatting based on multiple criteria

Hoping someone can help me. I am trying to use conditional formatting. I want to fill in my form from A to S if column R is blank and C contains data. I tried =AND(R4:R1000="",C4:C1000<>"") and applied to A4:S1000 but that didn't work. Any suggestions? I want to fill the row in bright yellow if they meet the criteria. I thought maybe =AND(R4="",C4<>"") but then I don't know how to make it apply all rows through 1000.

    Help, I need your expertise.

    Try
    =AND($R4="", $C4<>0)
    Does that work for you?

    @ Dena

Based on your last post it seems that you are satisfied with the solution(s) you've received but you haven't marked your thread as SOLVED. I'll do that for you now but please keep in mind for your future threads that Rule #9 requires you to do that yourself. If your problem has not been solved you can use Thread Tools (located above your first post) and choose "Mark this thread as unsolved".
    Thanks.

Also, as a relatively new member of the forum, you may not be aware that you can thank those who have helped you by clicking the small star icon located in the lower left corner of the post in which the help was given. By doing so you can add to the reputation(s) of those who helped.
