    Help with spreadsheets connection

    Hello everyone,

first of all i'm not really good at excel. I have managed to built an inventory system but i still have an issue.

My file has several spreadsheets. I use the first one as a data base. When ever i want to add or delete new product along with it's two unique codes i do it on the first and automatically updates the rest of the sheets. The problem starts when i short (always on the first sheet) in alphabetical order. On a daily basis i record values beside each product on all the sheets. That says when i short my updated product list the values are not following the new order.
Ex. Cell A1 = Alex, Cell A2 = John. I add a new name "Bob". When i short alphabetical the order will be A1=Alex, A2=Bob & A3=John. These will happen to all of my sheets. Meanwhile beside John i had recorded several different values at each sheet. Now all these values are referring to Bob who took John's place in row #2. Is there any way to keep the entire row together all the time? I do this on a daily basis and its time consuming to adjust manually every page.

    I hope that makes sense.
    Thanks a lot

Sounds like you need to do look ups to your database rather than direct links. Try uploading a small sample file and you'll get help faster.

Hey Bentleybob. Thanks for your answer. Sorry for the late response i was away for few weeks. I will try the look ups but i'm not sure that they will solve my problem. Meanwhile i'm uploading a sample file too.

    thanks again

I think lookups will work fine except that you are not using one tab for data entry and the other tabs for analysis; you're entering data in several tabs (e.g. Price Analysis column D and many columns in Purchases and Inventory). When you sort one tab, all bets are off. Far better to enter all the data in one tab and then use lookups to pull the right data in for analysis into your other tabs.
