Lost data when saving excel as formatted text (.prn)

When I save this excel sheet to formatted text (.prn), there are missing characters in the middle of each line. The last number of the first column and the whole fifth column is missing. Each line does not exceed 240 characters.

Also, this particular worksheet was given to me as protected so I cannot change cell width or anything.

I am using excel 2007 on a Windows XP machine. However, when I save the same sheet as formatted text (.prn) with excel 2007 on a Windows 7 machine, the data is complete. I need this to work on my Windows XP machine.

Any ideas on how to fix this problem?

Hi martin. Thanks for your response. You're right. The missing data is also missing in print preview.

What could have caused this? The worksheet is using courier new font. How can I fix it?

as i said printing only prints what's visible so if you squash up a column and the text is not wrapped then only the visible text is printed.try copying the data to a new workbook and open up the columns

I can't. The worksheet was given to me as protected and it won't let me select the data to copy to a new workbook. On another machine, the same worksheet has everything visible, but on my machine there is data missing. What could be the problem with my machine?
