    dropdown data



    hi guys im a noob in excel, but i would like to learn i am making this simple list but cant seem to make it work, so basically on the attached file, i a selection, what i want to do is basically when a specific part is selected the corresponding value on sheet 2 will come up. for example, pulling up charlie1 would give 100 on the next cell on sheet1 under value column...

    i need this done as soon as possible.. any help would be appreciated

    thanks, i was able to make it work but could you tell what $A:@B,2,FALSE means, i was lost in that part

    Sheet2!$A:$B, ... is the search range (on sheet 2 in this case)
    2, ... the first column (A) is searched and column 2 (B) is returned for a match
    FALSE ... says find an exact match

    what if the 2nd column is searched and column 3 is returned for match? still at 2? or 3?

    Based on your last post it seems that you are satisfied with the solution(s) you've received but you haven't marked your thread as SOLVED.
