    its such a basic question, i don’t know why i am asking it, but for some reason my vlookup isn’t working

    i have created a column called 2011net sales,
    I have dumped sales figures on the work sheet called data

    All i need is for a vlookup to look at column A sheet “summary” go the data sheet, if there a 2011 figure, return it as a value

    For account 878505750884 net sales 2011 is 40624.38

    Re: Vlookup problem

    Hi
    In first sheet you have number in second there is text. Choose the same format in both sheets.

    @michelle

    Tom is right, on your second sheet the number is stored as text. The green in the cornor of the cell indicates that.

    @ masond3

    Based on your last post it seems that you are satisfied with the solution(s) you've received but you haven't marked your thread as SOLVED. I'll do that for you now but please keep in mind for your future threads that Rule #9 requires you to do that yourself. If your problem has not been solved you can use Thread Tools (located above your first post) and choose "Mark this thread as unsolved".
    Thanks.
