Having cells retain their colors after using conditional formatting

Hi
I am working on a Bingo spreadsheet, it has 15 "cards" on it.
There is a "New Number" cell, when you put a number in, it colors all the cells of the bingo cards that have that number
When I clear the number out of the "new number" cell, all the cells on the bingo cards go back to no fill. I would like the colors to "stay" on the bingo cards, after the number is cleared.
Is this possible?
