Probably around 85% of the time when I open an Excel file at work, I get a prompt that says the file is in use by "another user," and gives me the choice of Read Only, Notify, or Cancel. Here's the thing...no one is in the files. I'm am 100% sure of this. Excel is glitching and I'm trying to figure out the source of the problem, but I have no idea where to start. I've been searching for a while now and haven't found much of anything useful, I really hope someone here can give me some insight because I am convinced this bug is affecting the functionality of my macros. The files are not protected, and I am the only one with permissions to access the drive they are on. Actually, I've created several of the workbooks myself and no one really even knows they exist, so I know for certain no one else is in the files at the time of opening.
Furthermore, if I click "Notify," about 10 seconds after opening the spreadsheet, I'm prompted with the choice to make the file Read/Write. Today I clicked on Read Only when prompted and when the spreadsheet came up it wasn't even read only, I was able to edit and save like a usual file. It seems like Excel is getting hung up somewhere, but I have absolutely no clue how to resolve this. Have any ideas? Anyone? Please?![]()
