Smile How to sort Grouped data in Excel

I have a variation of this problem. I followed the instructions, but it is still not working for me. Can someone please help?

I need to sort the first column by status (Closed, In Contract, Retained, Proposal) - but it needs to be grouped by name (i.e. Altobello's deals all need to be grouped together and sorted as previously referenced). Baum and Baum/Owen's closed deals needs to be grouped together. Do you see my problem?!?! It's driving me NUTS. BTW - Column B is irrelevant. Thank you in advance.

    Column A Column B Column C
    Closed HOSPITALITY SALES Altobello
    Closed HOSPITALITY SALES Altobello
    Closed DEALS HOSPITALITY Altobello
    IN CONTRACT HOSPITALITY Altobello
    Closed FINANCING ASSIGNMENTS Baum
    Closed FINANCING ASSIGNMENTS Baum
    PROPOSALS FINANCE / QUOTES Baum
    PROPOSALS FINANCE / QUOTES Baum
    RETAINED Baum
    Closed FINANCING ASSIGNMENTS Baum/Owen
    Closed FINANCING ASSIGNMENTS Baum/Owen
    Closed FINANCING ASSIGNMENTS Baum/Owen
    Closed FINANCING ASSIGNMENTS Baum/Owen
    IN CONTRACT FINANCING ASSIGNMENTS Baum/Owen
    PROPOSALS FINANCE / QUOTES Baum/Owen

    RETAINED Baum/Owen

Re: How to sort Grouped data in Excel

I've moved your question to a thread of its own, as per forum rules. Be sure to take a moment to read through them, link is above.

    1) Highlight all your data
    2) Sort the data by Column C, then by Column A, all at once.
