Why? Works for me!
Because
100*.995 = 99,5
100/100.5=99,5024876
EDIT corrected numbers

Thanks!
However, I've put this formula in and it doesnt make sense to me...
so, what I'm doing is...
475+6.5% = 505.88
475+7% = 508.25
so there is a difference of 0.5% (i.e. 6.5 and 7)
So what I want the sheet to do, is tell me what 475 will be minus 0.5%
The formula you gave me says that 475-0.5% = 505.71
But... 508.25(7%) minus 505.88(6.5%) = 2.38
If, I take 2.38 away from 508.25 i get .. 505.88 ...
So Ive got two answers... the formula says 505.71 ... but my manual calculation says 505.88
(maybe its just my bad maths!!)
Can anyone help? which one is correct?
How did you arrive at this?
475*0.5% is indeed 2.375 rounded off to 2.38The formula you gave me says that 475-0.5% = 505.71

You should avoid writing equations likeThey are confusing and utterly incorrect ( except if you mean 475+0.065 which is of course 475.65)475+6.5% = 505.88
OK, now I am confused lol ....
I only wrote it like that to make it easier to understand what I'm trying to do. I basically cannot understand which answer is correct... 505.71 or 505.88 ... the formula I was advised to use is throwing out a different answer to one I do manually? theres only 0.17 difference between the two awnsers, but I cant figure out why?? (starts pulling hair out) lol

Please read post #8
505.875 (rounded off to 505.88) is the right answer.
What formula are you using to arrive at 505.71?
I'm lost!
=ROUND(A1/(1+0.005),2)
