Formating the cell based on the forumla in it.

    Hi Friends,

I have a very simple query.

    I have 2 columns:
Column A - Has values in it for loan amount.
Column B - Has Installments of Loan amount (A/12 or A/13)

(repayment in 12 installments or 13 installments)

I want column B to Highlight the cell in case of 13 installments (A/13) and leave A/12 as it is (no special formatting).

Not sure what conditional formatting should I use

    Please help.

Not the prettiest way I would imagine but it works. With condition formating use the formula option and use - =B1*13=A1

to get the formula then in the conditional formatting

    =RIGHT(cellformula(B1),2)="13"

save the workbook as -macro enabled workbook..

    cf.xlsm

    Dear vlady,

Thank you for the guidance. I am a beginner with excel hence it actually took me days to figure out where is the "module" thing in excel... but finally I managed... whew...

It was really tough to find out and was giving up hope on it... but today somehow managed to get it right.

Thanks, I learned a new thing today...

    @ Linraen7

Based on your last post it seems that you are satisfied with the solution(s) you've received but you haven't marked your thread as SOLVED. I'll do that for you now but please keep in mind for your future threads that Rule #9 requires you to do that yourself. If your problem has not been solved you can use Thread Tools (located above your first post) and choose "Mark this thread as unsolved".
    Thanks.

    Dear Cutter,

I did try to mark the thread as solved yesterday a number of times.. but there was problem with my internet connection and the page was not refreshing at all... & finally I gave up on it, hence it was left as unsolved.

    My apologies.

Also thank you for marking my thread as solved for me.

    Thanks
    Lin.

Yes, sometimes it's stubborn and I have trouble with it, too. Thanks for trying. You're welcome.
