VLOOKUP OR HLOOKUP Help

Dear Geniuses,

thanks for your help earlier today. Now I need to know how to calculate an average number using either VLOOKUP or HLOOKUP... (I think!). I've attached the spreadsheet which illustrates what I'm trying to do.
