I have a spreadsheet in which I use Autofilter a lot.
Until recently, the normal behaviour was that when I filtered on a column, it would show just the filtered rows, plus a load of empty rows at the very bottom where I could then enter more data. This was useful in that I could then enter more data without having to first cancel the filter.
Yesterday, I had reason to do some brief editing of the file in Libreoffice (on a Mac without Excel) and this seems to have upset it. Now, back on my normal PC with Excel 2003, what happens is if I do an autofilter, it does not show empty rows at the bottom - after the final record I just see a big grey space and no more row numbers. So to add more data, I have to cancel the autofilter.
Does anyone know if there is a setting somewhere that triggers this behaviour?
I could just restore from a backup (prior to the Libreoffice edit) to fix this, but it would be useful for me to know if there is an easy fix for this, and I do not have to be afraid of occasionally using Libreoffice to edit the file.
Thank you very much for any advice.
