Help Finding * Character in Spread Sheet

    Hello,

I have a very large spreadsheet in Excel 2010 and I need to go through and find all the *'s in it. The only problem is that Excel seems to take the * to mean "anything" when searching. (find "*" will look for any sequence of characters between quotes). I tried using various escape characters like putting a \ before it but that just searches for a \ with any sequence of characters after it.

I spent a while on the internet trying to find a solution to this but I didn't come up with anything.

Is there a way to search for the * character in Excel?

    Thanks,

    Matt

    Re: Finding *

search for ~* (tilde followed by asterisk).

CSE, aka Array aka { }, formulae are confirmed with CONTROL+SHIFT+ENTER.
Replace commas ( , ) with semicolons ( ; ) in formulae, if your locale setting demands.
All good ideas are courtesy resources from this forum as well as others around the web.

Thanks! I figured there was some sort of character for that.
