Problem with Formula that displays contents from some cells but not others

I'm having a lot of problems with this project.
A lot (most ) of my formulas have be obtained with the kind help of the forum users on here and then I have adapted some, not too succesfully to meet the needs of other things I've dreamt up.
In the Tech Log sheet of the attached sample I can't work out why the formula won't work in columns starting at B6, D6, and E6 when it works in works in F and I
I have other problems in the Pilot sheets but that is for another post, I can't see what is wrong, could someone point it out to me please

The problem with the cells on your Tech Log sheet is that you're trying to return text values with SUMIF which only sums numbers. That's why it works in the F column, because Time is numeric.

Normally I'd suggest INDEX and MATCH functions but the problem with your set up is that it appears a pilot might fly more than once on any given date and with a different aircraft. Is that correct?

This is where one of my other problems start. You are correct that they will fly other aircraft, but the 'tech log' will only be used for one specific aircraft 'G-AXNP' two pilots each with a pilot log book, but both flying the same aircraft and only the details from that aircraft needs to be put in the Tech Log

So the formulas only need to refer to one Pilot sheet for any given date? Would an aircraft fly more than once on any given date?

If only! Either pilot could fly it on the same day and more than once. Should I abandon the idea, I was hoping that the 'pilots log' would populate the 'Tech Log' which in turn populates the the airframe and Engine log, that bit works fine

I wouldn't say you would have to abandon the idea but the way your sheets are set up at the moment I'm struggling to think of a way to do this with functions and formulas and my VBA skills are limited. Maybe another member might have some ideas.

I've moved on a bit now with this, but not too much, please ignore the first attachment and please take a look at my latest efforts. I have adapted most of the formulas and they work to some degree but still not doing what I want them to.
The whole idea is that by filling in a 'Pilots log' everything else is then copied from those details. The difficulty is that there are 2 pilot logs.
The following sheets work fine 'Airframe log' Engine log' 'Rick' 'Jim' and also the Pilots Log 1 & 2. It's the 'tech Log' Columns'A' 'B' and 'D' that are the massive problem.
I want the 'Tech Log' to only record details from each Pilot Log when the aircraft flown is 'G-AXNP' I had a full head of hair when I dreamt this idea up, but I'm gradually loosing it all now.
In additon, is there a way to insert the word 'to' in between the contents of column 'D' e.g. EGCV to EGBW
