    Sorting by date problem

    Hi,

Can't work out what I'm doing wrong here; I've tried to format the cells in different ways but no joy.

When I data sort (the attached sample list) by date Excel only accounts for the DD part of the DD/MM/YYYY format. So I get a numerical rather than a date sort. How can I solve that?

    Many thanks,

    RL

    those values are text
    go to data tab
    select column a
on the data tab select text to columns
    click next
    click next again
from the column data format options
select date and select dmy from the dropdown
    click finish
