    Lookup.xlam error?

Every time I open exel, be it excel by itself OR by opening an excel file separately from a folder location, I get the following error:

    lookup-xlam_error_upon_opening_excel.png

Each time I open, I get this error. I always click yes, but I've not a CLUE about what it's talking.

Mainly, it's annoying and I want it to go away.

Can anyone explain to me what LOOKUP.XLAM is? Or why this error is occurring?

A little background - last night before leaving the office, I saved all excel files I was working on that needed to be saved (I probably had 15-20 different workbooks - or files - open. Some were just sources to copy sheets into existing workbooks. So I didn't save EVERYTHING. And it's possible one of the ones I did not save had some kind of index, match, or lookup function in it. Though I'm fairly certain there was not.

So I save everything and put the CPU on Sleep mode.

I come in this morning, and it's obvious CPU has been rebooted. Apparently Microsoft cranked out a single, or a bunch of updates last night, causing every CPU on the network to reboot.

And now I open excel, it tries to open my 15-20 files, but I keep getting this error.

    Any suggestions?

Thank you in advance, you guys are the best and much appreciated.

    Re: Lookup.xlam error?

what addins do you have installed? I suspect lookup.xlam is one of those you have installed and when the computer rebooted you ended with excel trying to autorecover whatever you had open, including a file that excel is loading by default anyway. I reckon you oughta uncheck all addins, restart excel and just accept any prompts you get then save and close. then restart Excel and put back any addins you had installed.

    Re: Lookup.xlam error?

I don't recall installing ANY addins. I just use basic formulas, index, match, vlookup, hlookup, lookup, row, countif, sumif, sumproduct, etc.

I never use VBA and have not installed ANY add-ins.

I may have installed Data Analysis Toolpak and Data Analysis Plus (regression analysis type stuff) but I am certain I was not using any of those when my computer was rebooted last night (while in sleep mode with multiple excel workbooks open).

    Any other suggestions?

I will give it a try.

did you check in addin manager just to see what is installed?

if it's not that then I reckon at least two of your workbook have references set in the VBEditor to this Lookup.xlam workbook.
