Trying to display multiple instances of same value

    Hi guys,

I'm trying to find a way to use a formula that will display the same info from a vlookup formula, but displays all of the same instances of the lookup value and associated column needed? Probably a simple one for you guys, but I'm just starting out in this so not sure about Arrays etc.

    Thank you in advance

If your original VLOOKUP was something like =VLOOKUP(A1,$X1:$Y100,2,FALSE) then try:

    MAINTENANCE LOG 2012.xls

    Hi,

thanks for your rapid response. Not sure I understand the formula, could you translate it into the attachment so I can understand how each bit interacts?

    Thank you

What are the inputs/results expected... and on which sheet(s)?

Re: Trying to display multiple instances of same value

Basically the data is entered into the data entry sheet and then if an engineer enters the serial number on the search sheet I would like excel to be able to display all results for that serial number below. So in other words i have got two serial numbers with the number 115554/8 and then below I would like it to display the results in the search sheet under the headings

I can get the first line with a vlookup, but how do i get the next one to fill in?????

    Thanks

Re: Trying to display multiple instances of same value

Sorry.. I was on lunch... :<

Anyway, in the Data Entry sheet, add a helper column with formula in F2:

    =IF(A2='Search Sheet'!$C$2,COUNT(F$1:F1)+1,"")

    copied down

Then in Search Sheet, C6 add formula:

    =IFERROR(INDEX('DATA ENTRY'!C:C,MATCH(ROWS(C$6:C6),'DATA ENTRY'!$F:$F,0)),"")

    copied down

similar for other columns, adjusting the 'DATA ENTRY'!C:C to match columns of interest.
