Excel 2007 : Count if question

HI,
I received help before and thought I could apply it across all instances I needed but can not, so if more help is available, thank you in advance!

I need to count entries (from registrations) on a chart by two different categories, defined by text entries, such as people who work in middle school and are in the math department.

The categories are colums with options for
Subject area
Math
Science
CTE
Leadership (Administrator)
Reading
Language Arts
Social Studies

Instructional Level
Elementary
Middle School
High School


I am using

=SUM(($G$2:$G$287="Elementary")*($H$2:$H$287="Math")+($G$2:$G$287="Elementary"))

but it does not work. The spreadsheet is attached.

In N1:P1 enter the Instructional levels in full (Elementary, Middle School, High School)

Then in N2 enter formula:

=SUMPRODUCT(COUNTIFS($G$2:$G$287,N$1,$H$2:$H$287,{"Reading","Social Studies","Language Arts"}))

copied across the 3 columns.

In N3:

=COUNTIFS($G$2:$G$287,N$1,$H$2:$H$287,$M3)

copied across the 3 columns and down the rows.
