    what if analysis

I am tricked with a question. Which of the following what-if analysis tool is used for viewing different results by altering an input cell in a formula? is it datatable or goal seek? or scenario?

Data table will let you specify several different choices for a value and allow you to compare the results. Scenario Manager allows you to do pretty much the same thing but captures each version separately. Goal Seek will automatically find an optimal value based on some outcome that you specify, and Solver does something similar but allows more complexity in the specification of your problem.

Lots of information about each of these tools is available in Excel Help and on the web. If you give more information about what you are trying to do, and better yet attach a sample file, we can give more specific advice about what will best fit your situation.

    Re: what if analysis

In the Exam Universe I'm going to say data table. If you look up the definition of data table in Excel help you will see why. And I recommend you do that.

I take a very dim view of test questions like this. They are trying to get you to remember certain buzz words from the definitions, rather than getting you to think about how to actually do something. In Real Life it does depend on what you're trying to do.
