Multiple IF function (driving me CRAZY)

Hi,

I have been trying to sort this out for a while and have copied an pasted examples i have found on the net and edited them to fit my situation but no luck!!

Heres the deal...

I have in cell C13 a drop down menu with three options 'Buy Now' 'Buy Now Existing' 'Auction'. In cell I12 i need a function so that if C13 = Buy Now I12 = 0.40, If C13 = Buy Now Existing I12 = 0, if C12 = Auction I12 = 0.10.

The best I have come up with is this but it doesnt work .... =IF(C12="Buy Now",0.4,IF(C12="Buy Now Exsisting",0,IF(C12="Auction",0.1)))

How isn't it working?

It works for me... but you describe the drop down as being in C13, but your formula references C12.... is your formula pointing to correct place? I added option that if none of those are chosen you get blank.. You also have Existing spelled incorrectly in the formula...


=IF(C12="Buy Now",0.4,IF(C12="Buy Now Existing",0,IF(C12="Auction",0.1,"")))

or


=IF(C12="","",IF(C12="Buy Now",0.4,IF(C12="Buy Now Existing",0,0.1)))

Sorry i wrote that quickly, the formula is put in the correct place.

I have tried both of which you pasted above and I get the same '###'

Your formula in I12 seems to have 2 REF# errors. Please rectify by using formula provided by NBVC.

That is OpenOffice, not Excel.
I Googled it and saw a suggestion to replace the commas in the formula with semi-colons.
