Customizing Bubble Charts

I would like to create custom shapes for a bubble chart in Excel 2010. I tried creating a shape, saving it as a picture, clicking on an existing bubble, and pasting the new shape. The new shape, however, appears within the existing bubble and is only partially visible...the bottom of the new shape is defined by the bottom of the existing bubble.

Any help is appreciated.
