Search Cells Above And Return Number

I've searched these forums for many a time and always found what I needed but this one issue I can't resolve.

When I enter data into a cell in column A (e.g A12) (the data is a job name from a drop down list e.g london street) I need to search column A but only the cells above the cell i've entered information into (A1 to A11). If the text entered (london street) matches any of the cells above it returns the sum of the numbers appearing in column N of the related row, in cell D12.

E.G If I enter 'london street' in A12 it searches the cells above in column A, say A3 & A6 also contain 'London street' and the corresponding cells N3 & N6 contain a number, say 5 & 7, so the sum of the two numbers (12) apppears in column D on the same row as the newly entered info (D12)

I hope this makes sense. Is this possible?
