Comparing a cell value with a range in a table and displaying a response

Hello, I am not sure if this is the best place to post this request, however, I am trying to produce a spreadsheet for monitoring of marks and current grades of students. I have got to the point where I have two tables in a spreadsheet. In one the current score is generated (column L) and in the second the range for a grade (lower value in column Y, upper value in column Z) is shown along with the grade (column AA). There are 11 possible grades with ranges.

I was wondering if it is possible for EXCEL to take the mark from column L, compare it with the values in columns Y and Z and finally place the corresponding value of column AA in column M.

    Any help would be appreciated.

    Yours sincerely,

    Mark.

Have a look at VLOOKUP with the last parameter TRUE. If the scores are in ascending sequence you can probably get away with just using the higher value. I don't have access to Excel at the moment ... and, in any case, I don't have any data to test it with.
