I'd like to create a field in a spreadsheet which displays an average. I'd like the average to be calculate for each distinct value from a separate field. For instance if that field was the date, the field would display for every row entry that particular daily average. How can I do this?
One caveat is that there may be a variable number of entries per day.
You can use AVERAGEIF()
e.gh.
=AVERAGEIF(A:A,X1,B:B)
where column A contains Dates, X1 contains Date of interest to look for, and column B contains values to average based on the condition
