    mm/dd/yy

I have a file from a database where the dates are not compatable with Excel. They are month day year but some are m/d/yy some are m/dd/yy. Even when I get the data to mm/dd excel still thinks the day is the year. So when I put in 3/15 or 03/15 it thinks it's it shows January 3, 2015.

you could try fixing with text to columns
select column text to columns next select mdy from the options click finish
