    SUM Function with Filters

    Hey guys,

Need a bit of help with a spread sheet I'm using (attached).

At present in row 230 is a the sum of orders in column E.
The numbers in the column can vary between 0 and 5, however most times they're a single order.
This currently shows a total since the start of the calendar year, however I'd like to be able to see at a glance the total in any given time.

However, when I apply the filter to show "May" or "June" the total will still display 221 as I'm using "=SUM(E2:E229)", is there a way to have the total for what's on display only?
i.e. If I filter a single month, or perhaps a quarter. Then it shows "32" as opposed to "221".

    Cheers!

    Hi

    Try

    =SUBTOTAL(9,E2:E229)

i think for excell 2003 and above that should be
    =SUBTOTAL(109,E2:E229)
