Formulas Display as Text rather than calculating

    Hi,

I have Excel 2007. I have a spread sheet that was given to me to modify. I find that when I enter a formula in a cell it displays as text rather than calculating. I have hunted in Help and can not find out how to correct this.

Thank you in advance for any help you can give me.

    Bill

    Try:
    1. Excel options > Advanced > Display options for this worksheet > Show formulas in cells instead of their calculated results (verify: unchecked)
    2. Verify cell format is "General"

Wow, thank you for the fast and accurate answer. It turns out that the cells were formatted as Text rather than General.

Thanks so much for the help.
