    Question Mark in cell

A question mark in a circle has appeared in the upper left corner of a cell on my worksheet. I cannot get rid of it. What did I do to make this happen?

    Re: Question Mark

    alroberts0829,

    Welcome to the forum!
A question mark in a circle sounds like the Office Help (F1) button symbol, but that is usually inthe upper-right of the ribbon, not in specific cells. A green triangle can appear in the upper-left corner of cells containing formulas that have been marked by error checking. Clicking the cell would show an exclamation point with information about the error checking.

If neither of these are the issue, please post a sample workbook experiencing the problem so that we can take a closer look at it.
    Hope that helps,

Neither of these is the issue. I tried to send you the sample worksheet by replying directly to your email. Did you get it? I couldn't figure out how to send it through the forum.

Replies to those e-mails don't go to forum members. To add an attachment, beneath the Quick Reply area below click Go Advanced. In that window, click Manage Attachments. Add your attachment and click Done. Add some text to your post, like 'Here is the file I'm working with' and submit.

    Re: Question Mark

That small question mark is just an image file that got inserted onto the worksheet. Did you happen to copy that data from another location (website, particularly)? If so, sometimes objects come with the data you're copying.

To remove, simply click on the object and press Delete. There are about 20 of the images (one on top of each other), so you'll have to repeat it until they're all gone. A macro could be written to do this, but it would be quicker just to do it manually if it's a one-time issue.

Note: Cell E79 also has one image. Click and Delete. Done.

There is not "delete" option. Only "cut" and this does nothing.

Sorry it took me awhile to get back to this thread. I'm glad your son was able to fix the problem. Paul has it right though, it was an image on the cell (several, actually). You can delete them all at once by clicking the image, then pressing Ctrl+a (this will select all shapes on the active sheet, including images), and pressing Delete.
