Excel 2007 : How? Moving data from one sheet and copying it into another sheet of that same file

I used to know how to do this, but due to a long hiatus from Excel use, I've forgotten how to:

take info from one sheet and paste it within another.
eg. Take info from Sheet 2, column B, rows 1-40
and transpose that info into Sheet 1, column A
so that Sheet 1, Column A shows the same information from Sheet 2, Column B, Rows 1-40 (even when you change the info)

any help'd be appreciated.
