changing IF formulas to Conditional formatting?

If its not one thing its another. So after a near flawless worksheet Ive been told by a idiot supervisor he wants it different. (without good reason I might add) Anyway I need to know if its possible to change IF formats to Conditional format and also how do I make it to where if I delete a cell I don't lose formula to #ref! I uploaded a workbook and it has the fomulas

you dont need the "if" just the result so say you have =if(a1=100,"yes",if(a1=200,"no","maybe")
and you wanted green for yes, red, for no an orange for maybe
the cf would be =a1=100 green =a1=200 red and colour the cell with the format orange

Not sure where you're going with this. What sort of conditional formatting do you want and on what cells?

    So for example, in K2
    =IF(AND(A3=A2,H3<>"",I2<H3),"Change","")
Do you want certain cells to change color if A3= A2 and H3 is not empty and I2 < H3?
IF so, then you select the appropriate cells, let's say B2:B10000 and go to conditional formatting
    and use formula
    =AND(A3=A2,H3<>"",I2<H3)
Is that what you are looking for?

Enter the IF statement into the conditional formatting tool 'Use a formula to determine which cells to format' =IF(your statement,TRUE,FALSE)

Re: changing IF formulas to Conditional formatting?

that is not correct cf only requires a true to kick in so giving the option of false is pointless so you just put in what you have put as =yourstatement

Well I need it to say change in J If I2 and H3 have a gap. I have this tied to cell A that matches up B which are guard posts. It just need to be a conditional fomula

Re: changing IF formulas to Conditional formatting?

By definition, an IF statement is a conditional formula. Do you mean that you want a formula in the conditional formatting window that will cause the word "Change" to appear in J if your conditions are true? That is not possible. The conditional formula (aka IF statement) needs to be in J.
