    Data Importing

Hi there, I am new to excel and am trying to set up a "Master/Slave" setup between 1 master excel workbook that will only be used for viewing and 2 slave workbooks that will be updated periodically.

I have done extensive searching and have yet to find a solution that fits my specific scenario. I am looking to essentially have an exact replica of these two different slave workbooks in the Master workbook. Meaning if I update sheetA in slave workbook 1 then sheetA in the Master workbook will be updated to look exactly the same.

I have looked into linking the specific cells but as I may need to add extra rows to say sheetA in the slave workbook, I will also need the Master workbook to reflect this. Thus cell linking was not the solution to my answer.

Next I took a look into data connections. My problem here is that when I import a data connection from one excel workbook to another that it must be imported as a table. This is fine but, I need the formatting of the excel sheet to remain the same and as it seems I am unable to do this.

My question is essentially, is there a way to import data from one excel workbook to another while keeping the formatting i desire and keeping it constantly updated, even if say new rows or columns of data are added?

    Re: Data Importing

I can't think of a way to accomplish this without using macros or vba code. If you ask the question in the "programming" message board, I'm sure you will get help.
