Excel 2007 : Help with comparing cells

Trying to count the number of times that the numbers in each row are smaller than other rows with the same letter

Hi,

Can you elaborate your desired output as the example sheet is not clear. Can you ouline or add comments on the sheet as to what and where is it required?

Sorry, I'll try to explain

Two rows with each letter and four columns of numbers
In the top row the letter is A, so I want it to count the amount of times the numbers are lower than the other A row, which would be 3, and if I copied the formula down to the other A row it would be 1

Hope that helps, I'm not that good at explaining things

That works great, but I'm having trouble copying it across to the main spreadsheet, tweaked the formulas properly but the numbers still aren't correct
Also noticed that in your sheet the {} brackets around everything disappear when i click on the formula, changing the value :S
