How to Lock Down a Picklist

    Hi,
I am using Excel 2007. I have created a picklist using a defined range in a different tab. I am trying to lock down this range so users cannot insert a line and add to this picklist.

    Is this possible?

    Thank you

Yes, you can protect your source range so no changes can be done.

Would be nice if you could elaborate on the "how" as well, arlu.

lgrigor, you need to protect the sheet where you have set up the ranges that you use in the pick list. To do that, open the sheet, then on the Review ribbon click "Protect Sheet". You can use a password to protect the sheet, so only users who know the password can change the sheet.

Be aware that the sheet protection with a password is just good for preventing inadvertent changes. People with malicious intent will easily find resources on the web on how to circumvent that protection.

    regards,
