Need a drop down bar to pick from

I have 2 columns. Column A is for putting what variety I want. Column B I use for what brand I want. I am using Vlookup right now so when I put in a variety then it automatically puts in the brand in Column B.

My issue is that I need to put Utilities in variety but the utilities can be from Northern High Bush, Southern High Bush, or Rabbit Eye. So when I put utilities in then it doesn't know what Brand to put because Utitilites are in each of the 3 brands.

Anyway I can have a drop down bar in column b when I put in only utilities in Column A

I am talking about A and B columns. If you enter star in column A it automatically brings up SHB in column B. If I put utilities in A then I want a drop down menu in B because utilities can be from more than 1 so I need to be able to pick which one. is that possible

You'll need VBA or this. Is that what you want?

crap I don't know how to do any of that. If I wanted it the other way then you could have a drop down for that column with the 3 options, how do you do that?

Can you provide a small sample workbook of what you have and what you envision/desire?

it is column J and K. IN J you will have variety and k is the brand RE, SHB, NHB. When I put in utilities it doesnt work because it can be from more than one brand.

Okay, my first thought to make this easiest to manage and no VBA, maybe update your vlookup table to cover the options.

Example: If varities can be associated to brand A, B, or C, then add a varitiesA, varitiesB, and/or varitiesC.

Re: Need a drop down bar to pick from

so just do Utility A, Utility B, and Utility C. and associate them with each Brand?

If I wanted to do a drop down bar for that column on everything, how would I do that?

Re: Need a drop down bar to pick from

Are you referring to just data validation or the validation for one criteria and if not that criteria then the vlookup?

    For the first, data validation

and to make the lists dependent on each other, look at the link I posted earlier >> post #2
