How to renumber large excel file with blank spaces between

Hi i have a large excel file with thousands of rows of data. I want to renumber the data whilst having a value of 10 between each in the format M00010,M00020,M00030 etc. These values are all in column A and where i have an M00010 value in column A i have a Text string in column B. Between the values in column A i have different numbers of blank rows that i need to keep. Sometimes 2 sometimes 3 or more.

I have tried using Filter but this doesn't really help as i can't use FILL to change the numbers.

Any help would be appreciated.

Also forgot to say at certain points in the file i also have another Numbering System beginning E00010 and upwards and also N00010 and upwards.

Just to confuse the issue a bit more....

Okay I think I found a work around for you.

Step 1: Insert a column before Column A
Step 2: Enter in cell A1 the number 1
Enter in cell A2 the formula = A1+1
Step 3: Copy the formula in cell A2 all the way down column A to the end of the data.
Step 4: Select Column A and Copy, Paste Special, Values.
Step 5: Select cell A1 and then Select the sort option under the Data tab.
Sort By Column B
Sort on Values
Order A to Z
Select OK
Step 6: In Cell B1 should be your first E#####
Change this to E00010
Change Cell B2 to E00020
Change Cell B3 to E00030
Select Cells B1:B3
Place the mouse over the bottom righthand corner of cell B3 until you see the plus sign
Drag your mouse down to the end of the E's that you want to reformat.
Step 7: Repeat this process with the M's, so when you reach the first M00010
Change the next two cells below it to M00020 and M00030 and drag like before
Do not drag through blank cells just till the end of the M's.
Step 8: Once you are finished resort the data by column A.
