    What's confusing is that the s/s shows them to be in year 1. I suspect that is not the case and the only way of detecting how far up the scale they are is to compare the current salary with the salary schedule. Do you really want to replace the % entries in column D?

    It might be worth thinking about revamping the s/s with a column with cells to indicate which step they are on and in the current salary column use VLOOKUP to get that figure. Then you could introduce another column for the next year to add 1 to the previous step and again find the new salary with VLOOKUP.

    Sorry, apparently I'm some sort of visually impaired and can't even look at my own work right. Whenever I mentioned having information in D, I meant E. Sorry for the confusion. I'll try making a separate column and using VLOOKUP and see where that gets me.
