Returning a price based on data.

Basicaly I have a lot of data on one sheet which is price and other various items (Price being the only one i'm intrested in). On other sheets I have a stock list and we are trying to figure out how much all our stock is worth. So what I need is a value(The price) Of the mouling(Frame) returned into the apropriate cells based on what code is in the stock list. We have mutiple supliers and codes that will not work so I'd not be suprised if all dont work due to people discontinuing mouldings.

Any ideas? I'm pretty useless at excell can do basic things but this has stumped me. Would be rather simple i'm sure.

If you do download the spreadsheet please ignore all of the other sheets bar Sheet (L 1-6) and Arquadia Suplier.

    Thankyou!

    OK,
instead of telling us what to ignore, maybe you could instead point us to what we should pay attention to. It's not clear from your posted example what you want to achieve. Please explain:

    - where would you like to see a result? What cell or what column?
    - WHAT would you like to see as a result? Manually mock up a result and enter it
    - WHY do you think this result should be displayed? Explain the logic in simple words.

You know your workbook much better than anyone here, so only you can explain the context and what you want to achieve. We cannot guess this.

    regards,

Josephcowley. This is a bit weird. I too had problems when pasting from my own message. But if you click on cell G3; then click in the formula bar and select the 'tick'. It works! Something to do with the format of the cells I think.

I think you are looking for the VLOOKUP function. If you type in the formula shown below into cell I3 on worksheet L1-6, the formula will return 3.864, the Euro Chop Price for that item.
    =VLOOKUP(G3,'Arquadia supplier'!$A$2:$G$2443,7,FALSE)

Re: Returning a price based on data.

Sorry I'm half awake today! Monday.

Ok everything i say from now onwards is regarding to sheet L 1-6 unless I specify otherwise.

I would like to see a price in column D this price would be found from the supplier sheet column D But what I need is to match the Codes of the moulding.

So for example L 1-6 Column A Row 1 would look for the moulding in the supliers sheet and retun a price (Sterling Price)

I need this to be displayed because we are doing and of year checks. and we need an overall value for our stock.

    Regards

Well insted of me imputting a diffrent formular for diffrent codes (Diffrent codes are produced because we order from diffrent supliers) Can this formular be addapted to look at another suplier as well as the arq suplier if i put them onto the sheets in the same format the arq one is in?

Yes, of course. Just follow the same format for VLOOKUP. Use Excel Help to learn what each element of the formula means and then apply it to the other supplier.
