    Pivot table question

Very simple question on Pivot tables. I have rows on my pivot table that has item numbers and size. I have another field for description that I would like to appear beisde item number on the pivot table. There is a one to one relationship. How to I add description to the report without the pivot table trying to use it as a seperate row?

    Hi Tom,

    Welcome to the forum

Can you upload an example sheet and plot the view expected on it?

    Thanks,

    Re: Pivot table question

Assuming you are putting them both in the Row labels, then right click on one of the first group items and choose "Field Settings" Then "Layout and Print" tab and choose "Show item labels in tabular form" Is that what you wanted?

    Re: Pivot table question

Thank you but I do not think I am explaining it right based on answers.

I just want to include Item description on the line that has item number. So Item number is the row and item size is the Column.

Right now my row has for example item 123. Great. The column size for item 123 is 22 24 25 28 and 30. Perfect so far.

Item 123 is a black belt which is in the table I am linking to. How do I get black belt to show on the row header line (item 123) without excel thinking it is part of the row labels. This should be easy(as I would think that it would be a common request) but I cannot seem to find it playing with the pivot table.

Thank you so far for the quick replies.

    Re: Pivot table question

At this point, I have to agree with bonny. Can you upload an example of how your original table is laid out and how you want to see it laid out in the pivot table? I'm having trouble visualizing it.

    Re: Pivot table question

    Size 24 26 28 30 32

Item Number: 123 "Item Descrption" Black 3 5
    Brown 3 5 1 3 8

Right now everything prints fine except I would like to add item Description to the item number line. I do not want it to appear on every line as it is the same every time. If I put it in the row Labels that is what happpens. Item description is part of the table I am using.

    Any thoughts?

    Thanks ChemistB..

    Hi Tom,

It would be great if you could attach an example spreadsheet to expedite the process

    Thanks,

    Re: Pivot table question

Hi Tom, as you can see, formatting doesn't translate very well in the forum. To upload an example spreadsheet, Go Advanced> Manage Attachments. Just create one with a few examples of how your original table is set up and how you want it to appear. If Pivot Tables can't do this, we can probably do it with SUMPRODUCT.
