Paste multiple stopped working

I use Excel 2007 SP3

A very strange issue has occured which is causing me a headache. I assume I have accidently changed some editing mode (or excel has for me). I used to be able to do this

Selecct a cell
Do CNTRL+C to copy
then select a range of cells below it
and do
CNTL +V (paste)

This used to paste the value I had copied into X number of cells below. And is exactly what I want to do

Now however I get this message
Data on the clipboard is not the same size and shape do you want to paste anyway.

This did not occur before. And more annoyingly if I click yes, it only pastes 1 cell, not the same value to a the whole range as previously

I have checked out every option I can think of and can't find what could have caused this change in behaviour.

Hi Wongadob,

I don't *think* it's related to this, but who knows.. recently there have been a lot of copy/paste issues due to the Skype Click-to-call browser add-in. Do you perhaps have it installed, and your internet browser open while using Excel? If that's not it, perhaps upload a workbook in which you're experiencing this so we can see if it's the workbook or something in your settings.

I can paste to multiple ranges of cells and it fills all cells, regardless of how many are selected.

It happens in all my sheets. I have attached an example. Excuse the geekyness of the sheet. I am an avid Liverpool football fan and I store all the stats!

There are macros in this workbook, but they have been there for about 10 years! so I doubt they are the issue.

have you checked the skype thing?
maybe excel thinks you are using more rows/cell than you really are.
try running the format cleaner add in
