    Expanding Cells In Pivot Tables

    Hi,

When I Expand a category in a pivot table, it opens all of the same categories/types in the other subheadings as well. This causes the file to freeze up a bit as it is a large table. My computer is very good and I don't have the time to group all the cells so I can drill one at a time without the others opening up.

Is there anyway I can drill only one particular item, so that not all the same items open up?

    Thanks For Your Help,

    Jon

    Hi Jon,

    Welcome to the forum.

When you expand a category (double click), all the critieria(s) (columns on left side) will be expanded automatically... See if this is the case with you, else upload the sample file. thanks.

Re: Expanding Cells In Pivot Tables

Here is an example file with a pivot table. How can I expand only 1 cell?

When I expand, all the other items of the pivot open as well. There has to be a simple option somewhere to just open only 1 cell right?

Because in my other file if I expand 1, it expands the objects in thousands of other categories which causes lag as I have to open, close them alot. Any help would be extremely appreciated.Example Salaries at my Company.xlsx

    Hi..

I had taken a look into this.. I think it it a property of the expand / collapse buttons..
They will expand together and close together.. if you don't want them, you can remove them :- click on pivot -> Option ribbon menu on top -> + / - buttons at tog right side.. you can toggle them from here.. thanks
