    Conditional Formatting question

In column 'A' I have a large list with every value having at least one duplicate. In column 'B', I have a list with no duplicates, but with values that exist in column A. I'd like to know if I can conditionally format column 'A' so that any value which exists in column B is highlighted in column A. Normally I would just highlight duplicates, but that will highlight all values in column A as they all have duplicates within column A.

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks

    Re: Conditional Formatting question

Try conditional format formula in column A:

    =MATCH(A1,B:B,0)

assuming you selected from A1 down.
Where there is a will there are many ways.

    Re: Conditional Formatting question

That worked excellently. Thanks! I originally had the two lists in different worksheets, but it looks like they need to be in the same sheet for the conditional formatting to work, eh?

Again, thank you so much for your quick and effective help!

    Re: Conditional Formatting question

If you give the B:B range a name (through Insert|Name|Define or Formulas tab|Define Name) then you can use conditional formatting like this:

    =MATCH(A1,List,0)

where List is a data range name in any sheet.
