    Getting rid of the 0.01 difference

    Hi, how do i get rid of all the 0.01 difference in excel?

    For example, A1 and A2 and A3 all =1/3. All will show 0.33 if i format cell n make it show 2 decimal places. However, if i sum it up. It shows 1 instead of 0.99. The only way to solve this is to use the round formula. Example round((1/3,2)). However, its very troublesome to manually insert all the round formula into all the cell because i hava a very huge data.

    Is there a way to highlight the entire row and format cell to do that?

    You could just copy your formula, and paste it all the way down.?

    Nono. 1/3 is just an example. Because the case vary. So we cant just copy n paste. One cell might be 3/31*$50, another cell might be 2/31*$45. So we usually type in the maths ourself. So its extremely time-consuming if we got to put the "round" formula for every cell. I had tried to copy n paste special "format" but in vain.....

    You could add a helper row:

    =ROUND(A1,2) and copy left.

    You could also use "precision as displayed" under Options>Advanced>"When Calculating this workbook" All calculations will only carry out as far as you have it formatted in the cell. It applys to the entire workbook (all tabs within the workbook) so be sure that's what you want.

    Hey. I just try it, It works! But it prompt "Data may lose accurancy". This sound scary enough.

    It works pretty well, especially when people down the road are going to be reviewing a paper copy and won't be seeing the hidden digits. Formulas will regain their precision if you back out of it but if you did some manual math or inputted data beyond what is shown, that will be lost.

    If you put =Pi() into A1 and format A1 to 2 decimal points, and then reference A1 in a formula, it'll use 3.14. If you uncheck "precision as displayed, the formula = Pi() will then calculate pi out to 15 places again and nothing lost. If, however, you manually entered 3.141593 into A1, and later turn off Precision as displayed and try to increase the number of decimal places, you'll get 3.140000

    Ya, this thing should be handy for me. Because i am in the accounting field. I always need to issue invoice to customer and my supporting document is always excel. You should know customer will complain even if we bill them $0.01 more. My support show i charge them for $3.33 for an item and another item $2.33. However, the total shows $5.67 instead of $5.66......

    I would just add a comment explaining that:

    "Sums may appear to differ from the sum of the individual posts due to rounding off."

    ...or something like that. Otherwise you could end up losing money or, if rounding up, actually charging to much.
