Copying data and pasting into filtered data

    Hi

I have a list of 82 values in a column A in Sheet 1 and which is identical to the filtered data in Sheet 2 (which has thousands of values). Now I want to copy the values in Column B of Sheet1 into Column B of Sheet 2 but only to paste those 82 values (already) filtered in Sheet2.

I tried but did not succeed.

    Please help.

    Hello sushil10s,

The problem with copying and pasting filtered data onto filtered cells is the thorn in my side! It just can't be done.

But you can still achieve what you want, it's just more cumbersome. First, unfilter Sheet 2. In Sheet 1, filter Column B, so you have your 82 values. Find an empty column on Sheet 1. We'll call it Column C, just so we can move on. In the first cell, type the formula

Drag the formula down Column C. When you unfilter, the cells in Column C will equal your filtered results in Column B. Copy Column C, and paste it in Sheet 2 Column B.
