How to Calculate with text in cells

Hello I am needing to build a spreadsheet that has to have text in the cells to show if it is gallons or fluid oz. Is there a way to get the numbers to figure and the text to stay in the cell and also to be put in the cell that it needs to be figured in.

You're fighting Excel.

If you must have units in the cells, as opposed to another column, you could format F3, for example, as 0.0 "gal/ac" and then enter a number or a formula.
