Unhappy Hyperlink in Excel 2007 lost

Please help my job depends on it. I use this spreadsheet that my boss built and it has hyperlinks to directories on the network. The hyperlinks would go to sub-directories in either the north or south directories.
That being said at random times they stop and we'll receive errors that the path is invalid, or they will change and point to a local directory on my computer (c to directories that do not exist on my hard drive. He's constantly telling me I'm doing something wrong and I haven't touched anything. The closest thing I did was put two shortcuts on my desktop to get to the north and south directory.

    u:\techops\2011\cent west\maint\north
    u:\techops\2011\cent west\maint\south

    Hi Dmatlof,

I appreciate the fact that this is important, but please amend your thread title to something descriptive of your issue per forum rule #1.

I use an add-in at work that behaves similarly, though. For no rhyme or reason, it will update all of the custom formulas with a local directory path to the add-in instead of a server path. It's a simple Find/Replace to fix it, but annoying as heck.

One of the causes would be if the file name being linked to has changed. Is that a possibility.
What does the link look like?

It's also possible that there have been glitches on the network or with network connectivity, although by their nature these are difficult to detect or prove after the event. Is this the only workbook that has such problems or have any colleagues experienced similar behaviour?

It happens to everyone that uses the sheet. but the only local directory that I have been made aware of is the one that goes to my directory local directory.
