    display picture according to a cell content

    Hi all.
    I have a file, attached, which displays a picture according to the content inserted into a named cell. It works nice.
    I'm trying to replicate this method in another file, but I am not able to complete the process. I can't figure out how to complete the step 4, which says:
    4. Next you take an arbitrary image and give it the formula '= Test'

    Could someone please take a look at the file and tell me how to get to step 4?

    Thanks in advance

    Hi Daves.
    Thanks a lot for your attention. Yours is a great approach. However I would like to find a way to complete the chosen path to do it, as it is at the file I posted. If it's possible.
    Thanks again.

    Click on the picture once, and in the formula bar enter
    =Test

    This is the issue to perform step #4, because after selecting any figure, the formula bar is not available to insert any value. At least that's the situation here, XL 2007.

    Sorry to bother you with this problem and thanks a lot for your time.

    You don't click on any picture. You copy and paste any picture to where you want it to display.
    Click on that picture, then click in the formula bar.

    Re: display picture according to a cell content

    That's what I've tried before posting the question here on the board. It does not work. It does not allow to enter anything into the formula bar while a picture's selected.
    But don't worry. At least I'll use this file as a template, only trying to replace the pictures.
    Thank you so much for trying to help.

    You attached workbook does work. Did you click on the picture and look in the formula bar?

    Yes, it does.
    That file works nice.
    The problem is that I'm not getting how to do the same in a blank workbook, as I said in my OP.

    Apologies,
    I have never tried to set this workbook up in xl'07 and never realized there was a problem when selecting the picture and you could not get into the formula bar.
    Check this out, it will work for xl'07

    Re: display picture according to a cell content

    @Osvaldo:

    in order to insert a "picture", like the instruction says, here is what i did (it works for xl 2007, i am not sure of previous versions).

    i navigated to Customise Quick Access Toolbar (right of the Office button on the left-top edge of Excel window) > More Commands. in Choose Commands From list, i chose All Commands. then i found the Camera function, which i added to the right side pane, followed by OK.

    this installed a Camera icon on the Quick Access toolbar, next to the Office button on the left-top edge of Excel window.

    then, i selected E5 in your sheet. following that, i clicked on the Camera button in the toolbar and just generally drew a square-ish shape in the white space within Sheet1. once i was done creating the shape, i selected it and navigated to the formula bar, which displayed =$E$5. this, i replaced with =Test.

    and, that was that. of course, the stretching bit - no clue.

    i learnt about the Camera tool from @Mallycat on another post, and extended it for this purpose.

    @icestationzbra
    Thanks for posting that new way of doing that.
    I tried in XL 2003 and 2007 and it worked with both. Works like a charm.
    Thank you again.

    @Dave
    Thanks a lot for your help and your patience.
    That solution for XL 2007 works fine.
    Thanks again.
