What about entering in B2:
And drag down as far as you like.![]()
=COUNTIF(A:A,A2)

Hi thanks guys but it does not quite do what I want.
I want the repeats to be numbers as 1,2,3....etc. as posted in my excel sheet. This is because they are inturn connected to some values at different time points which i need to analyse.
Then perhaps:
There is limited info as to how you obtain your info, but the above will only count the occurrences up that that point and will not take into consideration the upcoming repeats. Can you tell me how you got the 2 in cell B12?![]()
=COUNTIF($A$2:A2,A2)
