    Question Locking Lines in Excel

I wanted a large area for typing complaint information so I drew lines on top of the gridlines instead of using boarders. Then I merged all of the cells so I could us "wrap text for the entire area of typing. If someone types the information on-line, the lines are there. If someone prints the page so they can fill it out by hand, the lines are still there. My problem is how do I lock those lines so that when the sheet is protected someone can't move them?

    Why not use borders?

I have one huge cell so they can write a paragraph of info if they want with text wrapping. The lines I drew are where the gridelines were before I merged all of the cells.

Oh, I understand now. I just tried it on my system and the line objects I created are 'Locked' by default. To truly lock them I had to go to Review->Protect Sheet, but once I had done that, I could not move the lines.

The properties of the "line" shows locked and I've protected the sheet but they still move. I must be doing something else wrong. Thanks

When I locked my sheet, the only non-protected item I chose on the list was 'Select Unlocked Cells'. You can play with those choices. Also, for the line 'Size and Properties' there are some choices for Object Positioning. Mine is at the default, 'Move and Size with Cells' but when I protect I do not allow cell resizing, so it is moot for me, but may be relevant to you.
