Filtering and copying data from a list

Bad title description so I'll explain.

Sheet 1 in column A I have NAMES and in column B I have STATUS. Names are people (Smith, Jones etc) and there are three status options (On caseload, Discharge, Transfer).

On sheet 2 I'd like column A to be the names of those people with the status "On caseload" with no row gaps. Eg.

    Sheet 1
    COLUMN A COLUMN B
    1|SMITH on caseload
    2|JONES discharge
    3|RICHARDS on caseload

    Sheet 2
    COLUMN A
    1|SMITH
    2|RICHARDS

At the moment I can use IF to achieve this but this produces gaps in the rows. Any ideas? This is clearly beyond me.

    Thanks.

Look into attachment this array formula so You must hit CTRL + ENTER + SHIFT together to accept this.

    Hi,

Check out the macro i developed for you.

Sheet 1 has your initial data. Click the run button and check Sheet 2.

Let me know if this solves your concern.

tom1977 - Thanks, works perfectly. Trying to break it down and understand how it works. I think I do but a bit above what I'm capable of. Any chance you could explain how this works function by function? I like to understand how the formula works before using it for future reference. I don't like copying and pasting something which I have little or no understanding of! If not, that's fine. Thanks for the solution.

bonny - I'll have a look at yours if I struggle with tom's. Trying to avoid macros for this particular sheet. Thanks anyway.

Hi I am not good at explaining but You can use “evaluate formula” commend to go step by step with this formula. I do it all the time, it is very useful thing.
