Marquee Flash problem

I use Excel 2010. When I copy a cell the flashing marquee (the snake moving lines) do not appear. The pasting does not include colour of the cell but the characters only.

Can someone tell me how to solve this? This never happened to me.

I'm hoping to see an answer to this issue as well since it is also affecting me.

Flashing marquee disappears almost instantly, and formatting between copied cells is lost. Also lost the ability to select and copy individual cells - I can still select them , but once pasted it just pastes an entire row or column.

This issue has made its way to Word 2010 in a similar way - formatting does not copied, and there is not an even an option to paste with it.
